Berty's aim is to give advice and
assistance to the Event
Organiser in the planning and preparation and also to ensure
that on the day the event flows with style, dignity and
without impediment.
Though
the majority of Berty's work as a Toastmaster is at weddings,
he is an indispensable asset at many different types of function,
including:
Formal Dinners Banquets High Sheriffs' Receptions Civic Receptions Corporate Events Award Ceremonies Society & Institute Functions
For
all such events, Berty likes to meet the event organiser well
beforehand to discuss the exact requirements.
Berty is frequently
able to give useful advice, particularly prior to Civic Events and
High Sheriff's receptions, where his knowledge of protocol and the
order of precedence is invaluable. For instance, there is a correct
way of introducing a Mayor and Mayoress, but it depends on whether
the Mayor is a Town Mayor, a Mayor of a Borough or a Mayor of a
City, all of whom are introduced differently. And to make matters
more complicated, certain cities have a Lord Mayor who, again, is
introduced differently!
Though Berty will always prepare
a written report summarising all that has been agreed with the event
organiser, he is very flexible and can easily adapt to any last
minute changes of plan. He will handle any unforeseen incident with
tact and diplomacy. The event organiser will be confident that the
‘stage management' of the event will be in safe hands!

a big charity dinner at Colwick Hall, Nottingham. Berty is
a popular Master of Ceremonies at any charity function, where
his charisma and vitality always give a big boost to the fund
raising activities.
